African Mission Training - Uganda

The JY GCC team organized an African Mission training from April 28 to May 3, 2018 at the Daniel

Comboni center in Kampala, Uganda.  We had 23 leaders from Qatar, UAE, Oman, SD, Kuwait, and

Bahrain in addition to the 15 leaders from Uganda attending the training. Subin Jacob, Reji Karot,

and Fr Francis (Nagaland) also joined us from India. On the first day, the local team in Uganda gave us a detailed overview on how the African Mission was initiated and matured till its present stage. Next two days, Kibii Maiyo from Kenya shared effective and practical ways to witness our faith to people from other religions. There were outreaches to a few villages on the last two days. We had some heart-warming experiences as we met with parishioners at a parish, engaged with children at a primary school and prayed with a few families below the poverty line at their homes. We found the people very receptive to the Gospel and got a glimpse of the immense opportunity to do mission there. Overall, this was a very refreshing and eye-opening experience for all the participants.

CHALO MADHYA PRADESH – Teens Team India

The 13 th edition of Chalo - Jesus Youth Teens Ministry’s Annual Exposure Program, was held at

Madhya Pradesh from May 7 – 19, 2018. The first phase was a three-day retreat followed by four

days mission training, which took place in Sacchidanand ashram at Narshingpur, Madhya Pradesh. There were 16 vibrant teenagers of 8 th - 10 th grade from diverse cultures and states like Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, and Maharashtra. After the first phase, the teenagers were split up in smaller groups and sent forth for a taste of mission experience into three villages. The uniqueness about this year’s Chalo Mission was that teenagers were able to share Christ to non-Christians. They were eager to learn creative ways of sharing the love of God through their actions, words and prayers. Also, in this give and take opportunity they felt how blessed they are to have received and known Christ. They were also able to experience a village life, so different from their own, in the absence of all the comfort and with bare minimum necessities, yet learning how to be happy in those circumstances, being grateful and glorifying God. They went back with this missionary zeal to share the love of Christ in their daily mission areas like family, school, friend, society and took some small spiritual and social commitments on an individual level. This was definitely a life changing experience for all of us who were a part of Chalo Madhya Pradesh.
