Dream Dreams 

May I ask you at the beginning of the New Year about your plans, expectations and dreams for the new chapter in your life? If you have not spent time dreaming, I would like to encourage all of you to dream big dreams for the future and the New Year.

A very interesting and relevant explanation about dreams was given by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, former president of India. A dream is not what you see when sleeping, it is what robs you of sleep and hounds you until it becomes reality.

That said, have you dreamt of being more faithful to God in the New Year – experiencing him through deeper encounters and witnessing his love to many more people? What are your dreams about living the Gospel in a more fruitful manner, about becoming the presence of God to the people around? How significant in your life is the kingdom of God? Are you really passionate about it? 

I have always been fascinated by the lyrics of songs like When I look into Your Holiness by Kent Henry from the album Glorify Thy Name. What I liked most was the line, 'when all things that surround become shadows in the light of you'. At the start of this New Year, let us reflect about the kingdom of God in our life – is it so significant as to make shadows of achievements, positions, power and money, in the light of Him?

Another song, one attributed to Sadhu Sundar Singh, based on Luke 9:57, I have decided to follow Jesus and Darrel Evans’ I’m trading my sorrow, too encourage us to live the Gospel.

I hope that we are able to dream big dreams about the kingdom of God; that these dreams will hound our waking hours to look to His holiness, to follow Him and to trade it all for the joy of the Lord.
